ELLIS and R.V. Anderson winners of CEO Niagara chapter Engineering Awards

Consulting Engineers of Ontario (CEO)’s Niagara Chapter celebrated the winners of its CEO Engineering Awards of Merit at the 2017 Annual General Meeting on March 29. Two Engineering Awards of Merits were handed out to CEO firms whose projects contributed to improving the social, economic and environmental well-being of people living in the Niagara Region.

ELLIS Engineering was awarded for handling project management, detail design and construction for Modular Steel Jacking Towers for the QEW/HWY 20 Interchange Bridge Rehabilitations project. The design incorporated a system to lift a bridge deck with a dead load of 2,030 tonnes, which is equivalent to six fully loaded jumbo jets.

R.V. Anderson Associates won for their upgrade work on the Victoria Ave. Sewage Pumping Station. The original station, which was built in 1976, is now successfully upgraded to address aging process equipment, building structural, and mechanical and electrical systems. The upgrading process utilized complex construction sequences to maximize the use of the facility.

The Niagara Chapters’ CEO Engineering Awards of Merit are presented annually to the local Niagara consulting firms. The award winners are selected by a panel of judges who have distinguished backgrounds in different fields of the industry.
