The Ontario government is committing an additional $10 million to the redevelopment of Hamilton Health Sciences\u2019 Juravinski Hospital. This funding along with a previously announced $7.5 million, is the largest healthcare infrastructure project in Hamilton Health Sciences’ history.<\/p>\n
The redevelopment will expand Juravinski Hospital\u2019s capacity to become the largest inpatient facility in south-central Ontario, with more than 500 inpatient beds. Planned upgrades include a new patient care tower, which will add over 100 new single-patient rooms, as well as renovations to accommodate increased outpatient care and support services such as general and orthopedic surgery, adult cancer care, intensive care, and general medicine. The hospital\u2019s emergency department will also be modernized.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are grateful for the provincial government\u2019s continued support in advancing this vital project,\u201d said Tracey MacArthur, President and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences. \u201cThis redevelopment will ensure that our patients and staff have access to modern, accessible healthcare facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
The $10 million is part of Ontario\u2019s broader initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure. This year, the province is spending over $228 million on upgrades and repairs at 129 hospitals and 58 community health facilities across Ontario.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Juravinski redevelopment, other major hospital projects in the Hamilton region include the St. Joseph\u2019s Healthcare Hamilton psychiatric emergency service redevelopment, an emergency department expansion at Hamilton General Hospital, and the redevelopment of West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
