Selection criteria included relevant construction experience as well as the financial capacity to deliver the complex project. Prequalified companies are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/amicoglobal.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amico Secure Ontario<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bird.ca\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bird <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Capital Limited Partnership<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ledcor.com\/ontario\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ledcor OPP<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A request for proposals is to be issued to the companies in early 2026. IO and the ministry in a statement said they will evaluate the proposals, select a company and negotiate a final contract. The successful company is to be announced later in 2026. A fairness monitor will oversee the procurement process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This third phase of the OPP modernization plan for its facilities will see detachments and a regional headquarters in Thunder Bay constructed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new detachments will be located in:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ignace<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Niagara<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bracebridge<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Liskeard<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kenora<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lancaster<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red Lake<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sioux Lookout<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Killaloe<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Espanola\/McKerrow<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wawa<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Structures being replaced are an average of 40 to 60 years old and well past their expected lifespan, the statement says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new detachments will range in size and all sites will include closed circuit television systems, a secure sallyport gateway, exhibit\/evidence vaults, along with holding cells.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new detachments will be designed and built to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standard, which recognizes buildings with reduced environmental impacts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phase<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u202f<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 of the OPP modernization program, completed in 2023, replaced ten aging detachments across the province, including sites in Orillia, Huron County, Mississauga, Hawkesbury, Manitoulin Island, Marathon, Moosonee, Parry Sound, Fort Frances and Cambridge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The facilities were built by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bird.ca\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bird Construction<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under Infrastructure Ontario\u2019s public<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2011<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">private partnership model and were designed to LEED Silver standards, featuring modern infrastructure such as CCTV, holding cells, evidence vaults and accessibility improvements.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Special to Niagara Construction News Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of the Solicitor General have prequalified three companies to bid on a project to design, build and finance new Ontario Provincial Police detachments and a regional headquarters.
