The new hospital\u00a0construction is expected to start in early 2015 and the hospital is expected\u00a0to be open in winter 2018\/19.<\/p>\n<p>A request for qualifications issued in April 2013 shortlisted the top three\u00a0companies with the development, design, construction and financial capacity\u00a0to undertake a project of this size and complexity. The three shortlisted\u00a0companies invited to bid are:<\/p>\n<p>innovaCARE Partners<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kasian Architecture Ontario Inc.<\/li>\n<li>Graham Walsh Joint Venture<\/li>\n<li>Scotiabank<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Integrated Team Solutions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parkin Architects Limited<\/li>\n<li>EllisDon Corporation<\/li>\n<li>Fengate Capital Management Ltd.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PCL Partnerships<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HDR Architecture Associates, Inc.<\/li>\n<li>PCL Canada Inc.<\/li>\n<li>TD Securities Inc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project includes the construction of a new seven-storey patient-care\u00a0tower, modern emergency department, Intensive Care Unit and significant\u00a0renovations to the existing space. This will provide the growing community\u00a0with improved access to a larger, more modern hospital and a hospital-wide\u00a0average of 70 per cent single patient rooms to meet the highest standards\u00a0for infection prevention and control and quality of care.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the project include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>additional acute inpatient beds<\/li>\n<li>nine modern operating rooms<\/li>\n<li>expanded diagnostic services<\/li>\n<li>a modern post-anaesthetic care unit<\/li>\n<li>expanded ambulatory care programs<\/li>\n<li>an expanded Cancer Clini<\/li>\n<li>renovated Special Care Nursery<\/li>\n<li>expanded medical, surgical and outpatient service<\/li>\n<li>a new main entrance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are\u00a0working with Joseph Brant Hospital to expand and renovate the facility,\u00a0which will remain publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly\u00a0accountable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Special to Niagara Construction News Infrastructure Ontario and Joseph Brant Hospital have released\u00a0a request for proposals to the three teams shortlisted to design, build and\u00a0finance the hospital&#8217;s redevelopment and expansion project.
