Carol Danis<\/strong> is the office manager and a partner at PEC Roof Maintenance<\/strong><\/a><\/span>; she will be the fourth president to serve the Niagara Construction Association (NCA)\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/span>from this firm. Carol has been a volunteer with the NCA for more than 10 years and has just taken the role of NCA president.<\/p>\n

Danis began working in the industry more than 30 years ago. Her first roles within the NCA involved working with various committees in the early 2000s. In 2010 she became a director and in 2013, she joined the executive.<\/p>\n

While working as part of the executive she has chaired the Programs and Services Committee and the Personnel and Property Committee, while remaining a volunteer with the association\u2019s Special Events and Women in Construction Committees.<\/p>\n

Danis says the role of volunteer is rewarding, both for the work itself and for the interaction with NCA members. There is also tremendous value for members, she says, that extends well beyond the \u201cexcellent events and the extensive industry training that is offered through the NCA.\u201d<\/p>\n

She says the NCA volunteers are dedicated to our industry and encourages members to participate. \u201cIt is this collaborated effort of volunteers and NCA staff that allow our organization to flourish.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NCA continues to develop a working relationship with stakeholders within the region, including membership in the Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA)<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and the Canadian Construction Association (CCA)<\/strong><\/a><\/span>. \u201cWe look forward to having a voice and working at the provincial and federal levels for our members through the Niagara area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danis says it will be important in her new role to continue the work of past presidents.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing has ever stayed the same in our industry and I don\u2019t expect that to change in the next two years,\u201d she said. \u201cWe have a committed group of volunteers on our executive, our board and our committees. This collaborated expertise and experience will continue to provide our members a collective voice as new and lingering industry related issues surface.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to acknowledge the hard work of our past presidents, who have each contributed to the success of our association. Our immediate past president, Kevin Brown<\/strong> of King Contractors<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, successfully addressed any issues that came to light during his tenure, while continuing to strengthen relations within our industry. He has organized our membership with COCA for the future benefit of our membership\u201d.<\/p>\n

She says she will be working to encourage the under 40 members to become involved, understanding there are many changes and decisions that are made today that will ultimately shape the industry in the future.<\/p>\n

For instance, the industry will continue to evolve and change, she says, as CCA announces new Gold Seal Programs and develops best practice guides. \u201cThere is also the release of our revised CCDC (Canadian Construction Documents Committee)<\/strong><\/a><\/span> documents and the first ever Canadian standard integrated project deliver contract form.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to working with COCA and other associate members proactively in the decision making process within our province. The NCA will continue to meet the challenge of involvement and delivery of information for the benefit of our members.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danis says for new and existing members, it is important to remember there is always something happening. Upcoming events include the NCA golf tournament at Legends on June 21; the Women in Construction golf tournament at Peninsula Lakes on Sept. 28; the membership barbeque on September 20; our Christmas luncheon and many safety training opportunities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
