Habitat for Humanity Niagara is co-ordinating the first-ever Niagara Women Build project.
The Welland project, where Habitat will build a semi-detached home for two families, “is an initiative to create safe spaces for women volunteers working together to develop their handywomen skills and confidence,” says Niagara Construction Association general manager Karin Sheldrick.
Co-chairs for the build are Yvonne Hendriks – Homes By Hendriks and Tara Christensen – PEC Roof Maintenance.
Steering committee members include: Anne Lennard-Otto – Distinctive Designs & Cabinetry Inc.; Melanie Patterson – Walker Industries; Kylie Boyd – Kylie Boyd Consulting; Sarah Edwards – Cotton Inc.; Carl Ryan – Cotton Inc.; Sherri Smith – Regional Doors & Hardware; Tisha Polocko – GNCC WIN Committee & St. Catharines Downtown Association and Site Supervisors: Ben Obdeyn – MaBo Westside Construction, Frank Memme- Mountainview Homes.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara is seeking businesses, organizations and volunteers to participate in the Women Build, encouraging donations of funds, products and services.
