Registration is now open for the fifth annual Mountainview LemonAID Day, a community-driven fundraiser aimed at sending children served by the Family and Children’s Services Niagara to summer camp. Click here to register.

Sponsored by Mountainview Building Group, the fifth annual event is set for Saturday, June 13, the event invites kids, families and businesses across Niagara to set up lemonade stands and raise money for camp experiences. Organizers say the initiative is built around a simple idea: kids helping kids.

Participants can register at no cost, create a personal fundraising page and set a donation goal ahead of the event. Organizers encourage early fundraising efforts, noting that it costs about $350 to send one child to a week-long day camp and roughly $1,000 for an overnight camp experience.

“We ask all participants to do their best to raise a minimum of $350, which will send one child to a weeklong day camp this summer,” organizers said. “We ask teams of LemonAIDers to challenge themselves to raise $1,000 to send a child to a weeklong overnight camp!”

Leading up to LemonAID Day, participants will collect online donations from family and friends. In the week prior, they can pick up a LemonAID kit, which includes a branded stand, lemonade supplies, and promotional materials such as T-shirts, hats and stickers.

On June 13, stands will be set up across the region as participants sell lemonade and collect donations. After the event, cash contributions and stands are returned to one of three FACS Niagara locations in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls or Welland.

The fundraiser is supported by local sponsors, including Mountainview Building Group, Tim Hortons and other community partners.

Proceeds from the event will help provide children and youth with access to summer camp opportunities, offering recreational experiences many might not otherwise have.

More information, including registration details, is available through FACS Niagara.
