Niagara Chamber of Commerce to honour best in business and philanthropy

The Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (NCOC) will celebrate Niagara’s most outstanding business and community leaders later this month at the Niagara Business Achievement Awards.

Four distinguished business and community leaders will receive bestowed awards at the 12th annual edition of the ceremony for their achievements in business and philanthropy.

John Mann and Cam Champion, co-founders of the Performance Auto Group, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award sponsored by Walker Industries. This award is presented to an entrepreneur who has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to entrepreneurial success and community leadership.

Dino DiCienzo, owner of Canadian Niagara Hotels, has been named as Builder Hall of the Year, sponsored by Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. This honour is for an individual, family or company who has had a historically significant impact on the economic prosperity of the community.

Mike Watt, Executive vice-president at Walker Industries, is the Volunteer Business Person of the Year, sponsored by NICI – Niagara Immigrant Connections Initiative. This award is for an individual whose spirit of community involvement and commitment has made a positive difference for the community.

Ann-Louise Branscombe, director of the Branscombe Family Foundation, will receive the Community Leadership Award, sponsored by Henley Honda.  This award is given to an individual whose leadership has made a significant impact in the community.

“Our four bestowed award recipients show the depth and breadth of business leaders within our community,” says  NCOC president and CEO Mishka Balsom“Each one has been vital in developing Niagara economically and socially through their accomplishments in business and community building, and because of them, our region is a better place to work and live. It is an honour to present them with these awards.” 

Twenty-seven Niagara businesses are also nominated for nine business achievement awards, including outstanding new business, excellence in manufacturing and business of the year.
