Niagara Sustainability Initiative’s (NSI) sixth annual Evening of Recognition on May 25 recognized Carbon Project members’ efforts, as well as volunteers and NSI board members.
Awards presented included:
Best Green Team: Beatties — Presented to the member with the most active Green Team.
Most Engaged Member: Niagara College —Presented to the member that most actively participated in NSI opportunities.
Sustainability Champion: Mark Green, City of St. Catharines. — Presented to an individual that has demonstrated leadership and drive for progressing sustainability in the workplace.
Greatest Greenhouse Gas Reduction (percentage): Alectra Utilities — Presented to the member with the highest reduction in the Carbon Project proportional to size. A 13.5% reduction in emissions was made from 2015 to 2016.
Greatest Greenhouse Gas Reduction (total tonnes): General Motors of Canada — Presented to the member with the greatest absolute reduction in tonnes of the Carbon Project members. A total of 1281.29 tonnes of CO2 was reduced from 2015 to 2016.
