The Niagara Construction Association (NCA) has presented its Outstanding Contribution “Ed Christensen” Award to long time director Bill Philp of HUB International.
Philp has been a member of the NCA since 1998 and since joining, has held various board positions, including that of treasurer over several years.
NCA director at large Tara Christensen says Philp and HUB have always been great supporters of any NCA events. “Bill is a very worthy recipient of this award and I was honoured to present it to him.”
The award celebrates the contribution of an individual who has made a positive impact on the NCA, either through an exceptional effort during the previous year or a consistent high level of service over a long period of time. Criteria also requires a contribution or influence on the industry and selfless effort on behalf of the industry. NCA chief operating officer Karin Sheldrick says Philp fit all of these categories.
Philp, in his role on the finance committee and as treasurer, implemented changes to policies and procedures that helped the NCA create the level of accountability, checks, balances and transparency it requires to successfully operate as a business and to meet the demands of the public and members.
HUB International was formed in 1998 through the combined efforts of 11 firms, including Rose Horne & Stevenson, a well established St. Catharines brokerage. Today HUB International is the largest insurance brokerage in Canada and one of the largest worldwide.
Philp says community involvement is one of HUB’s core values. His expertise with contractors and manufacturers, he says, made him a good fit for involvement within the NCA.
“I am honoured to be recognized with the award. The NCA is represented by a group of hard working dedicated individuals. It has been a pleasure to be involved with them.”
